Advancing the Craft of Technical Vehicle Rescue
Markham XT represents a commitment to excellence in technical vehicle rescue. As a self-funded crew of Markham firefighters, we volunteer our time to master the latest innovations in extrication techniques.
To compete at the highest level, we participate in regional qualifiers through the Transportation Emergency Rescue Committee (TERC) and NAVRA (North American Vehicle Rescue Association) events. These rigorous challenges serve as the proving ground for us to qualify for the World Rescue Challenge, where we exchange knowledge with the world’s elite teams. This expertise is funneled directly back into our training, ensuring that the citizens of Markham are protected by a team that operates at the highest international standard.
Our journey is often featured in industry press, including a deep dive by Canadian Firefighter Magazine. Their feature, "Forged in Competition," showcases how we represent Canada on the global stage and the technical evolution of our team throughout the World Rescue Challenge.

Support Markham Extrication Team
We're raising funds to support the Markham Fire Auto-Extrication Team, a non-profit, self-funded group of dedicated firefighters and captains who volunteer their time to specialize in training and competing in vehicle rescue scenarios. Competing in both NAVRA and TERC challenges across North America, the team brings back critical skills and knowledge to improve patient care and outcomes at car accident scenes in Markham. We also provide free auto extrication training sessions weekly to all first responders interested in developing this critical, life-saving skill.
We are representing our Fire Department, city, and country, competing for a spot on the world stage at the World Rescue Challenge where teams from across the globe compete to be the best. This incredible experience allows us to learn from the top rescue teams worldwide and bring those advanced skills and training back into our community.
